what is calibration? | standards of calibration

today in this blog I will give you the complete information of calibration , standard meter and standards of calibration.

what is calibration?

relation between the standards and the read out scale of each measuring system must be established through a process known as a calibration.

                                                         OR

the calibration is a process of comparison between the standard unit and the quantity to be measured.

concept of standard meter

the standards of measurment is the physical embodiment of the unit of measurment as well as that of its sub multiple value

as the measurment is the process of comparison regardless of our measurment method we must employ a basis of comparison 'standard unit'

it is of significant importance that a relationship between the standards and the read out scale of each measuring system must be established through a process known as calibration

classification of standards of calibration are as follows:

  1. international standards
  2. primary standards
  3. secondary standards
  4. working standards

let we see the standards one by one

1.international standards

this standards is made or defined by the international agreement of many countries

this standards have the highest range of possible accuracy in measurment attainable to the scientific method and present days technologies

these are the main equipment of measurment when we use it regularly then its measurment accuracy will be affected therefore these are checked and evaluated regularly against absolute measurment in terms of fundamental units

these standards are stored in a international bureau of weight and measurment it does not give the permission to use the ordinary users for measurment.

2.primary standards

many countries have the national laboratories this primary standard maintained in the national laboratories

this primary standards in laboratory is only restricted for the respective national laboratories of the country and this are not available outside of the national laboratories.

primary standard is represent as the high accuracy and stability when we exposed to the other substance and are mainly used for the calibration and verification of secondary standards

primary standards can measure the length, time and mass therefore it can be measured in terms of  metrics

3.secondary standards

secondary standards are compared regularly by a primary standards this standards have little more use than other standards this standards stored or maintained in the laboratories of the industries this standards belongs to the particular industries.

secondary standards of the national calibrated from primary standards of the national laboratory and certified by national laboratory for measuring accuracy in terms of primary standards

4.working standards

working standards are used to check the accuracy and performance and calibration of laboratory instruments

this instruments are used regularly this standards consists of greater qualities

this working standards are calibrated from the secondary standards.
